Summertime

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

I don't know about you guys, but I've definitely got that summer vibe. Seaside stories, wind in my hair, sand on my skin, beer in my hand, summer festivals, good music, socially accepted laziness :)...Oh, those hot days when the sun sets late and life is jolly and carefree...I couldn't be more ready for summer!

Everything seems to look brighter and more relaxed, including my wardrobe. I mean, you gotta love summer wardrobe: shorts, sleeveless tops, light fabrics, sandals, sunnies...what's not to love? I like the ease of wearing dresses, they are definitely my favorites (during every season, basically), but summer is also the season that kinda' takes me out of my comfort zone, showing this rebellious side of me that causes me to be laid-back and cool. I love cold seasons for giving me the chance to play with layers, but nothing compares to a simple, comfortable summer outfit, that only consists of a top, jeans and some fun accessories. It's so refreshing!

I wish you guys a sunny, wonderful week!

Big bear hug!

Body & Soul

I've recently came to a valuable conclusion: running is more than staying fit and living a healthy life. It's equally for the body and soul...I find it to be the perfect escape from a bunch of problems, and it educates me to push my limits. Not to mention the beautiful feeling of being in control: I am the one who chooses where to go, how fast, how far...In a world where I interact with so many people (at work, at the gym, in my spare time with friends), this is a moment for myself only, a moment when I stop doing things for others, and start doing them for me!

Today I ran a 10.5 km race in Bucharest and I loved it! It doesn't seem like much (especially if we think about those courageous people who signed for the half marathon), but it was one of the greatest experiences in my life, and a great personal achievement. It made me feel I could achieve the impossible. A couple of years ago, I couldn't even run 500m. I've come a long way!

My biggest motivation today was to finish the race withing the established timeline: 1h and a half. And I did finish it, in 1h and 10 min. I did a pretty good job and I am so very proud! Now, my goal is to improve my speed, so I'll continue the training. I can't way for the next competition! We had a beautiful weather, and I've never seen so many enthusiastic people in one place. It was amazing.

My legs are tired, but my mind is strong! :)

Have a wonderful week, you guys!

Love,

Run is fun

Hi guys,

I've not always been an active person. Back in my university years, I lived quite the sedentary life: watching TV, playing video games, sleeping. In the past 3-4 years though, I've become very interested in physical exercise. I guess that as you grow older, you start to acknowledge the importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle. Plus, gaining weight is much easier and loosing it becomes way harder... I've started going to the gym 4 years ago and I tried all kind of different classes. The only type of training that provided me with enough motivation to come back the next day was Kangoo Jumps. It was fun, it had an interesting choreography, and good music :). I've been taking KJ classes for almost 4 years now and I still love it. Last summer, the lack of air in the gym became quite the problem for me, so I decided to move towards an outdoor activity: running. At the beginning, running seemed like a tough sport (I was so sore all the time). But with practice, I really started to love it! It gives me a great energy boost, and  I get quite euphoric every time I finish a race. The great thing about running (besides its many health benefits) is the fact that it's something that me and my boyfriend do together. We are both quite competitive, so we motivate each other to push our limits.

I remember saying that I would never be able to run a marathon, but I signed up for a 10 km race, which will take place on May 18th at the Bucharest International Half Marathon, and I'm very excited. I'm a pretty slow runner, so there's a chance I'm going to come last :). But I'll for sure have lots of fun!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

The long weekend

Hi guys,

I hope you enjoyed 1st of May and the mini holiday! Even though I don't choose to go to the seaside like most people do on labor day, I make sure I have my share of fun. This year, I went to Brasov, this amazing city that I never get tired of visiting. It rained a little bit in the afternoon, but aside from that, it was warm and sunny, and my idea of a perfect getaway! We took a walk around the old city center, grabbed lunch at some of our favorite places, aaaaaand, visited a beautiful bridal shop. It's time to let the cat out of the bag :).Yeap, it's a big year for me...I'm getting married in October! :D. Friday was such a special day, because it was my first time trying on THE white dress! I've never mentioned my wedding on the blog, because I get overwhelmed with emotions when I'm talking about it...I will only say this much: I'm beyond happy, I'm marrying my best friend and I can't wait for the big event to take place!

I've spent the rest of my mini holiday at home, cooking, watching movies, relaxing! The long weekend wasn't that long after all...Time flies too fast, damn it! I mean, I can't believe it's May already!

I wish you all a wonderful week!

Lots of love,

Mamalina
