Hi guys,
Oh, I've missed this little wonderland so much (and I don't mean Bucharest :P). I've missed the blogosphere :). But now I'm back: Ole!
Southern Spain was amazing, needless to say! It exceeded all my expectations. Long story short, we rented a car from the airport in Malaga and left it in Madrid. Throughout our journey, we visited Benalmadena, Zahara, Ronda, Malaga, Algeciras, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Tarifa, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo and Madrid. We had 5 accomodations in: Benalmadena, Algeciras, Seville, Cordoba and Madrid. We even took the risky journey through "El Caminito del Rey" which had just been reopened in March after restauration works- this was one of the highlights of our trip!
It was an amazing experience and I truly recommend you visit those magnificent places! The period of Moorish rule in Spain had a profound impact on every aspect of this nation. You could see their influence everywhere- but the most recognizable legacy has to be the architecture! I was blown away by the beauty of those places and I feel lucky to have had the chance to experience it!
So? Where do I begin?!? Chronology aside, I guess I'll start with Seville. Seville is absolutely beautiful, but its Alcazar (palace) was by far my favorite place to visit. I'm a huge GOT fan and when I read that they had shot some of the scenes from this season in that location I went crazy-excited! I mean, I was visiting freakin' Dorne, oh my Gosh!!! I'll make sure to share pictures from that day in a future post :).
Now, to kick off the travel diary, I'll leave you with some photos from our last day in Seville. We woke up very early that day to visit Plaza de Espana at sunrise. We had been there the evening before but it was packed with tourists, so we really wanted to come back and explore it at our own pace, taking in all its beauty! Afterwards, we took a walk in the park nearby- which was beautiful as well, then met our friends to continue our visit of the city. We went to Seville Cathedral, an impressing monument with a tower that offered some amazing views of the city, we visited some other churches and walked the beautiful streets in search of tapas bars and "cervecerias" :). Mmmm, I'm still drooling when I think about all the delicious Spanish food. Anyways, I'll leave you with the photos!
Hasta luego!
Besos,
Mamalina
