Sweet escape

This past weekend I was in Cluj for the Electric Castle Festival. It was such an amazing escape! I love that feeling of freedom that traveling gives me, when my give-a-damn is broken, when work and stress are far, far away, when I can relax and enjoy good company and awesome activities!

We left Bucharest on Friday morning and stopped at Alba Iulia, then at Turda Salt Mine, on our way to Cluj. Can you imagine I'd never been to that part of the country?!? It's so beautiful and I'll for sure return to pay a longer visit to those beautiful places!

We got to Cluj in the afternoon, checked into the hotel, grabbed a bite to eat with our friends who were there since Thursday and were staying in the camping, got a quick update on what had happened the day before at the festival, and went to Banffy Castle to enjoy our first "electric" night. I was a bit sad because I had missed some pretty amazing artists who had performed on the first night (like Subcarpatii and Die Antwoord) and because I'd just found out that Rusko wasn't going to perform on Sunday, but the lineup for the other three days was pretty damn good, so I got over it really quickly! I loved how everything was organized, I loved the crowd, the people, the festival style (I'm so sorry I didn't take pictures, but I was afraid to bring the camera, so that's that). It was an amazing experience and I can't wait for next year!

As I previously mentioned, our friends stayed in the camping area. Don't wanna sound snobbish or anything, but we didn't have the courage to join them in the wilderness :P, so we choose to stay in a hotel. The bad part was that I had to drive every night for half an hour from Bontida to Cluj, I could't have a drop of beer and I'm telling you... it wasn't fun! But it was a sacrifice I had to make in order to enjoy a shower and a decent toilet! :)

All in all, I had so much fun, there were so many people there... it was surreal!

The weather wasn't so great (what's with this weather, anyway?). As expected, the rain followed us to Cluj, but fortunately, it stopped right in time for the festival. It was pretty cold, though, so, of all the things I had packed (tops, shorts, skirts), I ended up wearing some jeans and a loose shirt for most of the time. I do like to wear extra comfy clothes during my travels, so I wasn't bothered by this.

Have a happy weekend, you guys!

Hugs,

Mamalina
